A judge of the Supreme Court of Queens sentenced the convict for the murder of Howard Beach jogger Karina Vetrano to life imprisonment without parole on Tuesday after emotional statements by family members of Vetrano.
Judge Michael Aloise sentenced him three weeks after Lewis was convicted of first degree murder for the murder of Vetrano at Spring Creek Park in Howard Beach in August 2016.
Aloise said that he hoped Lewis would ask God for forgiveness.
"But when you do it, it will be in a cage," says Aloise. "It's a guarantee."
Lewis spoke briefly in his own name for the first time before Aloise's sentence.
"I'm sorry for the family, but I did not do it," said Lewis.
