The Red Devils are 24 points behind the top of the Premier League and the manager does not know what progress can be made next season
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said Manchester United had to prove that it could be consistent if he wanted to compete with Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title next season.

United has not won the Premier League since Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 and Solskjaer is not certain of the Red Devils' competitiveness in 2019-20.
"I do not think we have the consistency to do that," Solskjaer told reporters when United was asked if United could fight City and Liverpool for the title next season.
"In the last 18 games, we're not far from them, but we're doing it in one season, we've been doing it for half a season, let's see, you can never say never.
"You can not expect things to happen overnight and we know it will happen gradually and we have to be realistic enough as a club to take it."

United's fans have been left behind to know if they would prefer their city neighbors or equally ferocious rivals to be crowned champions.

"It is not a matter of taking something away from others," added Solskjaer. "We must want to overtake them, not just because they are City and Liverpool.
"For a supporter, as I am, and as a manager now, we know [them well] because they are so close in the neighborhood.
"We want to be the best, we have been the best and it's not nice to see these two men at the top."
