Netflix and other streaming platforms consolidated their status in the film industry on Tuesday when the Academy of Cinema and Arts and Sciences decided to maintain their eligibility for the Oscars. The Academy decided to maintain a rule allowing any film with at least seven days of theatrical shooting in a Los Angeles theater to get an Oscar.
