Mortuary Mm The Ghana Mortuary Workers Association has set May 2, 2019 the beginning of a nationwide strike

Working in the morgue, which many consider to be one of the most difficult jobs, will remain a predominantly male occupation for a long time, as only three women can boast of Ghana.

The Secretary General of the Workers' Union, Richard Kofi Jordan, said Thursday that these three workers had been recruited not long ago.

"There are only three women mortuary workers in Ghana. We have two in Korle Bu and one in Apinto Hospital in Tarkwa (government hospital). There was one at the Peki government hospital that had even retired, but due to lack of staff, she was recalled and contracted. In total, our staff has nearly 500 people. "

At the same time, the Ghana Mortuary Workers' Association (MOWAG) set May 2, 2019 as the start of a nationwide strike. Before that, they will hold a protest at Obra Square in Kwame Nkrumah Circle on May 1, 2019.

It will be their third national strike in less than twelve months.

In a letter to the Ministry of Health and seen by Kasapa Fm, the workers in the morgue declare that the industrial action was made necessary by the delay tactics supposedly used by the government in this matter.

The group gave the Ministry of Health the April 31 deadline to contact him or continue the strike.

This is despite the intervention of the National Labor Commission (NLC), which has invited injured mortuary workers to further deliberations in anticipation of the strike planned by the group.

The members of the badociation, in March 2019, defined their tools for low wages and poor working conditions.

The strike was canceled a few days after the launch of the protest following a crucial meeting with the National Labor Commission, which gave new hope.

But the group still maintains that their demands are still not satisfied, hence the strike next month.
