Kwame Sefa Kayi of Peace Fm, chief executive of the Kokrokoo Charities Foundation, donated three incubators to the neo-natal intensive care unit of Tamale University Hospital.

The three incubators presented to the hospital by the Accra-based radio presenter cost $ 30,000.

The Foundation also introduced nine incubators to hospitals in the Upper East and Upper West regions.

In total, about 30 additional incubators are expected to be offered across the country as part of the "100" project.

The intervention was conceived as a support structure to promote the survival and development of the child in Ghana.

Data from UNICEF Ghana indicate that about 140,000 premature babies are born in Ghana each year.

However, more than 8,000 of these babies die before the age of one month due to insufficient medical equipment in health facilities.

The Foundation's project 100 started in 2014 with the aim of raising funds for the purchase of 100 incubators in total for health facilities across the country.

Its goal is to reduce the mortality rate of children born prematurely.

Talk to DGN OnlineAccording to Kwame Sefa Kayi, this gift was a way to give back to society by helping health facilities take care of the next generation.
