CARDIFF CITY and Neil Warnock continue their desperate campaign to survive in the Premier League against all odds.
But the season of the Bluebirds was marked in January by the tragic death of Emiliano Sala.
The attacker had signed for the Bluebirds for £ 15m but died without making a single appearance when his plane bound for Cardiff crashed into the English channel.
Who is Emiliano Sala?
Originally from Santa Fe, Emiliano Sala was born on October 31, 1990 and is therefore 28 years old.
The Argentine striker had missed his playing time in the first two divisions of France, having started in the youth academy of Bordeaux.
Despite his debut at the age of 21, he struggled for regular minutes and was sent on loan to US Orleans, Niort and Caen to gain experience.
His performances for the latter were sufficient for Nantes to move away from Bordeaux in 2015.
He again struggled to become a regular striker for the Ligue 1 club – but saw a change of fortune in 2018/19, scoring 12 times, more than Neymar, the PSG star at £ 200m.
As interest rose in Argentina, Cardiff plunged for £ 15 million during the January transfer period, breaking its previous record of £ 11 million paid for Gary Medel.
But his life was tragically cut short when he flew to Cardiff for the second time after taking a weekend to say goodbye to his friends in Nantes.
Sources later told BBC Wales that pilot David Ibbotson was color-blind and was not qualified to fly at night.
The flight was scheduled to take off at 9am but was delayed until 7pm.
