Michael Nartey was arrested again
Michael Nartey, the leader of the three fugitives who escaped from Prampram police station cells, was arrested again at his hiding place in Ashaiman, Greater Accra region.
He is currently in the custody of the Ashaiman District Police Headquarters and badists the police in his investigations.
However, the police officers, who were on duty when the incident occurred, were given a two-week ultimatum to present the fugitive inmates or face internal disciplinary measures.
Confirming the incident at DAILY GUIDE, Joseph Obenefo Darkwah, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Tema Regional Police Command, Deputy Police Superintendent (DSP), said his team was about to hunt three prisoners placed in pre-trial detention. Monday, April 22, 2018.
He revealed that the three fugitives had escaped from police cells by the ceiling at around 11:20 pm.
Another detainee alerted the duty police after his escape.
According to him, the police rushed to the cells and realized that the ceiling of the cells had been broken and that the prisoners, namely Samuel Pardie and Victor Fiagbenu, both on remand, and the convicted Michael Nartey, had managed to escape.
The alarm went off immediately for the prosecution of the detainees, leading to Michael's new arrest in Ashaiman.
In the meantime, efforts are being made to apprehend other inmates who are still at large.
The Tema Regional Police Command is appealing to the public to help re-arrest the other detainees.
