BOSTON – A student from Otis Elementary School in East Boston has been tested positive for mumps, school officials told Boston 25 News.
A letter was sent Friday to parents to warn them that a third-grade student at the school had tested positive for mumps.
School officials say they do not believe the student has been in close contact with students at the school who have not been vaccinated.
Officials added that all students were required to show documented proof of vaccination against measles, mumps and rubella. They say that almost all Otis School students provided the proper documentation, but a small number did not. They contact these families.
No additional information has been published.
