New economic model of the NLA
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and the National Lottery Authority (NLA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding pursuant to Section 5 of the Revenue Administration Act 2016 (Law 915) to improve the revenue mobilization for the Consolidated Fund and National Development.
This collaboration between GRA and ALN would benefit both parties and the central government in the following ways:
1. Increase the visibility, availability and accessibility of GRA and NLA services across the country, primarily through NLA's private sector solar powered kiosk platform.
2. Organize training programs aimed at developing and empowering NABCO recruits, as well as ensuring the deployment and monitoring of NABCO beneficiaries so that they undertake TIN registration exercises. to broaden the tax base.
3. Ensure the implementation of voluntary tax compliance, especially in the informal sector of the economy.
4. Collectively use electronic kiosks and lotteries to improve VAT penetration across the country.
5. Solar energy electronic kiosks would be used to register new taxpayers, receive completed tax returns and verify the tax clearance certificate.
6. The GRA and NLA collaborations would help to promote and strengthen the provision of digital services and the overall digitization of the Ghanaian economy.
In addition, the collaboration between GRA and ALN would help maximize income mobilization and create unprecedented employment in Ghana, especially for young people.
Under laws pbaded by Parliament, the GRA and NLA are both mandated to mobilize revenue for the benefit of the government for national development.
The NLA established under Law 722 is the only body responsible for the regulation, supervision, conduct and management of lotteries and lotteries in Ghana, while the GRA established under Law 791 as a semi-autonomous body is responsible for the collection, evaluation and accounting of tax revenues.
The memorandum of understanding between GRA and ALN would help create an enabling environment for the realization of President Akufo-Addo's vision of the agenda beyond aid in Ghana . The agreement will also propel the country into a cashlite society.
