Rocking sleepers recalled after the death of an infant – News – NHK WORLD

The American manufacturer of childcare items, Kids II, has announced the recall of nearly 700,000 rocker sleepers linked to at least five infant deaths since 2012.

The Kids II Rocking Sleeper is a cradle-style bed made of fabric and supported by a stand.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Friday that the deaths occurred after the babies rolled their backs against the stomach or side.

The details have not yet been released, but consumer groups claim that babies could be choked after being found lying on their stomachs.

Kids II offers refunds and asks people who bought sleepers to stop using them immediately.

On April 12, Fisher-Price, another US manufacturer of baby items, recalled its Rock 'n Play sleepers, linked to a number of infant deaths.

The Japan Consumer Agency has called on users of products sold in Japan to stop using them immediately.
