The NBA family mourns the loss of John "Hondo" Havlicek, one of the greatest players in the history of the NBA. Havlicek played in the 16 seasons of the NBA with the Boston Celtics, winning eight titles. Only two players, teammates Bill Russell (11) and Sam Jones (10) have won more. Havlicek revolutionized the role of "sixth man" for the Celtics, since he was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1984 after a stellar career comprising 13 star selections, 4 premiere selections NBA team and a most valuable player in the final in 1974. Named one of the 50 greatest players in the NBA, Hondo was immortalized for stealing his pbad inbounds in the closing seconds of the seventh game of the championship of the Eastern Conference of 1965, with Johnny Most's famous call "Havlicek stole the ball!" marking forever in the NBA tradition
