The think tank on policy, IMANI Africa, said that there was no need to apologize for his recent comments on the Aker Energy oil discovery in Ghana.
At a press conference, IMANI said the country could lose $ 30 billion due to the nature of the agreement covering the discovery, and reported a potential conflict of interest involving GNPC Boss, Dr. KK Sarpong.
The government denied these allegations and Dr. K.K Sarpong and Fuel Trade apologized.
However, Franklin Cudjoe, president of IMANI Africa, said that they were not to apologize for asking questions about the deal.

Dr. KK Sarpong had very early asked IMANI Africa to apologize for the lie against him about the agreement between Ghana and Aker Energy.
IMANI alleged that Mr Sarpong had links with Fuel Trade, an agency partner of Aker Energy, clearly citing a possible conflict of interest with him.
But in a statement, KK Sarpong insisted that the allegations against him were false because the involvement of Fuel Trade in the Aker deal had been sealed even before his appointment.
"I want to insist that neither my family nor I own the fuel business, as IMANI Ghana claims. As a result, I, Dr.KK Sarpong, General Manager of GNPC, can not be accused of conflict of interest in the treatment of Aker Energy, as stated by IMANI Ghana. In fact, the 2% stake in Fuel Trade in the Deepwater Tano Cape Three Points Block was acquired in 2014 long before my appointment in 2017 as General Manager of GNPC. "
Describing the act as unacceptable, he further blamed IMANI for failing to carry out the background check before publicly accusing it.
Mr. Sarpong has therefore asked for a retraction and subsequent apologies from the policy, thank you for risking prosecution.
"It is surprising to me that IMANI Ghana, a think tank of this type, could have exercised due diligence on the ownership of Fuel Trade Limited before arriving at an erroneous conclusion. which m seriously embarrbaded and compromised my reputation in the business world. Undoubtedly, I faced immense economic, political and social difficulties because of the unjustifiable demand of IMANI Ghana.
"This, I find unacceptable and hereby requests a retraction of the said complaint and an unqualified apology from IMANI Ghana and its Deputy Director, Mr. Kofi Bentil, within two weeks. As important as the press conference, I reserve the right to seek redress in court. "
