PProud of his friends in the group they formed at school, Martin Wells looks like any other teenager with the rest of his life in front of him.
But the future computer engineer and his group companions were all contaminated by a deadly virus at the time of taking this picture in 1983.
Only one is still alive today.
A major public inquiry launched this week will explore how and why 4,800 hemophiliacs, including Martin and 89 boys from his school, were infected after receiving blood containing HIV or hepatitis in the 1970s and 1980s.
The scandal has killed at least 2,500 people and the death toll is rising every year.
