The Rwandan Supreme Court has rejected the challenge of a law that calls the president's criminal offense to insult him.
The law that was pbaded last year means that anyone who insults President Paul Kagame is liable to five to seven years in prison.
Attorney Richard Mugisha argued that the law was unconstitutional as it violated freedom of expression. The court ruled that this should remain because of the office's responsibility.
The same court ruled that a law prohibiting the drafting of articles or drawings humiliating deputies, ministers or other government officials was to be rescinded.
Mr Mugisha had also argued that articles criminalizing adultery should be deleted.
The court rejected this appeal.
