Brazilian police arrested a parrot for foiling an undercover drug raid. The parrot reportedly warned two suspected drug traffickers that the police would arrive.

Police had stormed the home of the parrot owner for an operation only for the bird to scream "Mama, Police!".

The local Oliberal outlet reported that the bird had been arrested for alerting drug traffickers.

The police, however, were able to make some arrests despite the efforts of the bird to alert the occupants of the house.

Crack and marijuana were discovered at the parrot owner's home. Significant sums have also been found.

Since his arrest, the parrot who was not named refused to speak to the police.

The bird "did not make any noise," a local journalist told The Guardian.

Police said that they thought the parrot had been trained to spot police cars and alert them.

The bird is now kept in a zoo in Teresina, a city in northeastern Brazil.
