James Nudutor, 56, former branch president of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of the Ghanatta "B" polling station in the Suhum constituency, is reported to have committed suicide.
His lifeless body was discovered hanging on a rope tied early Saturday morning in his guest house.
The deceased who left three children lived in the guest house.
Dozens of residents who rushed to the scene were shocked.
It is unclear what led him to commit the act, but some of his neighbors suspect frustration.
The police have since transported the body to the morgue of the government hospital in Suhum.
