The bad mood between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the opposition Electoral Commission (EC) seems far from over.

It seems to get worse day by day. The NDC has not hidden its concerns about the behavior of the electoral body lately and has openly criticized the EC for some of its decisions with which the party does not agree .

A few days ago, the party opposed the restriction of a limited district registration exercise, which it said would be unpleasant as a result of the EC's decision not to follow up on CND's request to decentralize the process.

NDC Secretary General Johnson Asiedu Nketia strongly believes that Commission President Jean Mensa has some prejudices against them.

"In a way, I think that, because we expressed our opinion on her suitability or not to occupy the position at the time of the appointment. It seems to bear this prejudice and she thinks that it is reason enough for us We believe that the problem lies in his attitude and not in the NDC, "he told the media.

After a recent meeting of IPAC on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, the opposition party condemned the position of Ms. Jean Mensa.

According to the NDC, Jean Mensa disrespected their general secretary when she warned him not to make fun of his comments. They also described it as a threat to the country's democracy.

Reacting to this in an interview with Citi Eyewitness News, Dr. Eric Bossman Asare, Deputy President of the European Commission, said that various comments and postures from the NDC underlined the fact that they (NDC) "are rather the threat".

"I think that if there is a threat to the democracy that we practice in our country, I would rather say that it is the position of the CND since this new commission took power … we noticed a particular tendency of the NDC. It's a commission that aims to strengthen our democracy, "he said.

Referring to what happened at the meeting, he said: "In the process of the president's statement, Mr. Asiedu Nketia chuckled and the president told him that you were becoming a distraction, your actions disrupted the meeting; things that happened "… adding" we are surprised that they claim that the president was shouting … "he added.
