Samuel Ashitey Adjei will retire after 29 years in the service of Ecobank.

The Ghanaian director of Ecobank Kenya, Samuel Ashitey Adjei, will retire after 29 years in the service of the bank.
Ashitey Adjei, who is also the Regional Executive of Central, Eastern and Southern Africa (CESA), will officially retire on April 29.
The outgoing director, who is also a member of the Ecobank Steering Committee, recently played a leading role in the partnership agreement between the Ecobank Group and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
He previously held the positions of Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana, Deputy Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana and Executive Director and Head of Corporate Banking and Treasury.
Ade Ayeyemi, CEO of the Ecobank Group, said, "Sam's impressive performance, dedication and commitment have been evident to all over his almost three decades with Ecobank. He helped make Ecobank Ghana the most profitable affiliate of the group and the first bank in Ghana in its ten years as General Manager.
"In addition, the financial situation of CESA has improved significantly under its authority in recent years. Its pre-tax profit increased by 79% to US $ 111 million in 2018. On behalf of the Ecobank Group and wishes it the best in retirement. "

Cheick Travaly, who is currently CESA's Chief Operating Officer, will succeed him.
Cheick Travaly has 28 years of professional experience, including 14 years as a bank manager serving six different countries. He holds two master's degrees, one in business administration and the other in economics.
Mr. Travaly began his career in the mining sector in Guinea, before settling permanently in the banking sector. One of his first roles was that of local business leader for Citibank Senegal. However, he has been employed at Ecobank since 2015, when he took on the role of Head of Corporate Banking at Ecobank Senegal.
