The body after a short prayer of the clergy was received by the high military command of the Armed Forces of Ghana (GAF) led by Lieutenant General Obed Boamah Akwa – Chief of the Defense Staff.
Officials present were Major General William Azure Ayamdo – Chief of Staff of the Army, Rear Admiral Seth Amoama – Chief of the Naval Staff, Deputy Marshal of Aviation Frank Hanson – Chief of the Air Staff and Major General Thomas Oppong-Peprah – Chief of Staff at Headquarters.
Government officials, including; Dominic Nitiwul – Minister of Defense, Ambrose Dery – Minister of the Interior, and Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey – Minister of Foreign Affairs were also present at the ceremony.
Ghana's General Director of Social Welfare and COP widow Beatrice Vib-Sanziri were also present with family members to greet the body.
The atmosphere was solemn when the body was taken to the military morgue.
Funeral and funeral arrangements should be announced shortly by GAF after consultation with the deceased family.
Major-General Vib-Sanziri was appointed by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in October 2017 to head the multinational force.
He was General Manager of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) from 2015 to 2017. Major General Vib-Sanziri, at the age of 62, died suddenly on Friday, April 19, 2019 in Eilat, Israel.
