New Delhi, April 29 (ANI): Researchers say they have found a combination of existing drugs that can be effective against blood cancer that mainly affects the elderly Researchers have tested to determine if arsenic trioxide (ATO), a drug existing, was effective in combination with all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) in the mouse model and in humans. They determined that the combination had been shown to be "extremely effective and extraordinarily effective" for acute myeloid leukemia (AML). While most patients initially respond to anti-AML chemotherapy, more than half of those responding will eventually respond to a relapse when cancer cells develop resistance to treatment.
