Jon Snow (Harington Kit), Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and many others Game of thrones The favorite characters of the fans entered the third episode of the last season, their life being intact. The fans entered the episode hoping that some of their favorites would not get away from the fight – and of course, they were right.
Led by Miguel Sapochnik ("Hardhome", "Battle of the Bastards") and written by the showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss, the Game of thrones The third installment of the last season reached a staggering 82 minutes and showed an incredible amount of activity as the Allied forces of the living took their last fight against the king of the night. The result? Large amounts of bloodshed – much of it is happening exactly as planned, much of the way that few people have envisioned.
Below we list all the people who have not survived the night – all the main characters named, at least. This should be self-evident, but if not, proceed with extreme caution. Beyond the Stark sisters, a long list of dead is waiting. Last chance to turn around.
Still there? Your funeral – or more exactly their funeral. Beyond the myriad of Dothraki, Unsullied, northerners, savages and guardians, here are the most remarkable deaths:
Victim # 1: Ed Dolored (Ben Crompton). The Lord Acting Commander of Night Watch is the first main character killed in the battle against the White Walkers, following the first major onslaught of the undead on the forces of the living. He was stabbed from behind after rescuing Samwell Tarly (John Bradley); it's a death that reflects what happened to poor Pyp (Josef Atlin) at the Battle of Castle Black in the fourth season of "Watchers on the Wall".
Victim # 2: Lyanna Mormont (Bella Ramsey). Lady of Bear Island is no longer. She does not die without fighting, however. She stands on the way to an undead giant when he breaks out in Winterfell. After she walks away, Lyanna gets up and charges the giant. This grabs her, lifts her up, and makes a crucial mistake: letting Lyanna get too close to her undead face. She drives a dragonglbad dagger through the creature's eye, defeating the greatest enemy on the battlefield, except for the king of the night and the death of the undead.
Victim # 3: Beric Dondarrion (Richard Dormer). The Lord of Lightning has died many times – and now his watch is finally officially over. Beric does his best to gather courage in the dog (Rory McCann) throughout the battle. He is particularly effective when he leads Clegane in a mission to rescue Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) from an attack by enemies. Beric loses his life in this mission, sacrificing himself to keep her alive. "The Lord has brought him back for a purpose," says Melisandre (Carice Van Houten) to Arya when Beric pbades. "Now? This goal has been served."
Victim # 4: Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen). Once the prince of Winterfell, then Reek, then a hero who has resisted until the end of his days. He already jumped off the ship while he could not face Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbaek). At the end of the line, Theon was more than ready to face the deadliest of all: the king of the night, master of all the white walkers, whom he attempted to embroider with a spear. Of course, he did not survive the slaughter, but that's the thought that counts.
Victim N ° 5: The Night King. You read correctly: The king of the night is dead, stabbed in the belly by Arya Stark, with the same Valyrian dagger that was designed to kill Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright). Chekov would be proud. Since the King of the night is dead, it means that the entire White Walker army is also constituted: Viserion, all the other White Walkers, the Wights – all.
Victim # 6: Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen). He was killed after doing everything in his power to defend Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) once she was surrounded by protectors. He was stabbed several times, and yet he managed to push to the end. His death, combined with the death of Lyanna, means that we last saw the Mormont House.
Victim # 7: Melisandre (Carice Van Houten). The red woman is one of the surprise heroes of the night and comes to Winterfell just before the start of the fight. She arms everyone with fire, guides Arya in the act of killing the king of the night and when all is over, she collapses into a pile in front of the gates of Winterfell. The Great War is finally over – which means that Melisandre's watch is finally over.
It is safe to say that the Battle of Winterfell did not go exactly as planned. Who thought the White Walker war would end in the middle of the last season of Game of thrones, and who could have expected Arya to do the act? But that's exactly what happened – and now the table is officially set for the all-new fantasy series to take hold in its last territory: the last Iron Throne War.
