A recent study shows that adding fiber to your diet can be very beneficial to your health.
The study examined data from more than 4,000 adults.
Researchers found that people who consumed between 25 and 29 grams of fiber a day saw their risk of developing heart disease, diabetes and colon cancer decrease by 15 to 30%.
People who consumed more fiber also had lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, and lower body weight.
Doctors say that a simple way to add more fiber to your diet is to use your refrigerator.
Carbohydrates, such as pasta or sweet potatoes, can become more fibrous by putting them in the refrigerator overnight.
Once cooled, these carbohydrates become a resistant starch and in turn create a hint of sugar in the smaller blood.
Naturally eating fiber-rich snacks is also a good way to consume more fiber in your diet.
