Bailly ends season with knee injury – Solskjaer

Eric Bailly is likely to miss the rest of the Manchester United season after suffering a knee injury in the draw with Chelsea, according to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United's defender Bailly made his first league start since February, but had to be pulled out after a collision with Mateo Kovacic.

The Solskjaer team has not won since four games in all competitions. Marcus Rashford was injured in the second half.

Solskjaer was not able to provide an update on Rashford, but confirmed that Bailly was unlikely to figure in this term again.

"Injuries? Rashy, we tied him before the match," said Solskjaer at a press conference.

"You could see clearly that his shoulder was getting worse and that he could not run freely anymore Eric, I think it's a serious knee injury."

"Hope this is not the worst case. I'm sure we will not see him again this season, unfortunately. This only adds to what we had against Manchester City. Whatever the case may be, we will be ready against Huddersfield. "

United got off to a good start at Old Trafford, Romelu Lukaku and Luke Shaw allied to start Juan Mata.

The calamitous error of David de Gea allowed Marcos Alonso to equalize before halftime. Neither team managed to break through after the restart, and Solskjaer acknowledged that United looked tired in the second half.

"We were tired towards the end of the match, that's certain," Solskjaer said to the question of whether his team was not fit enough to execute his game plan.

"We have already touched on this issue and we need to go step by step. We depend on the freshness and shape of each.

"We looked really fit, really good, and then for some reason we did not go out to play as we did in the first period, there may be several reasons."

The draw left United three points off fourth place, Chelsea, with two games to go, and Solskjaer hinted that all hopes for qualifying in the Champions League were now over.

"If you look at the league table, It is going to be difficult," he added.

"We have to make sure that we get there, that we win our games, and we never know because points are lost on the left and center of this race, there are tough games for all of us. You can not do more than focus on our own performance. "
