FRANKFURT (Reuters) – Paul Achleitner of Deutsche Bank, who oversaw the merger plan with Commerzbank, has been the chairman of the board of directors of Germany's best-paid blue-chip companies, according to a poll released on Monday.
Achleitner pocketed € 858,000 (201,000 euros) for 2018, seven per cent more than in 2017, announced consulting firm hkp, comparing the average salary of presidents to 424,000 euros.
During Achleitners' tenure at Deutsche Bank, which began in 2012, the lender's share price has lost more than 70%.
He eclipsed the compensation of Gerd Krick of the Fresenius Health Group and Norbert Reithofer of the BMW car manufacturer, which received 640,000 euros, and Hans Dieter Poetsch of Volkswagen, which received 584,000 euros.
