29, GNA – Some concerned citizens of Atwima Mponua district in Ashanti have
asked Isaac Kwame Asiamah, MP for the region
to use his influence to get an ambulance for the district.

The lack of ambulance
district hospital had resulted in many preventable deaths, particularly among
pregnant women, accident victims and critically ill people in need of emergency
medical services, depending on the group.

spokesperson for the concerned citizens, who launched the appeal through Ghana
The news agency in Nyinahin said that ambulances should be called from Bibiani at
Western North, when the need arose, but this was delayed because of the long
distance.

He said private
transport operators called upon to intervene in such cases, had also
took advantage of the situation to charge exorbitant fees to parents of
patients, requiring ambulance services, to referral centers such as Komfo Anokye
Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, for emergency treatment.

between 700 and 1,000.00 GH ¢ for the transport of seriously ill patients to KATH.

Mr. Brenya pointed out
the need for the Member of Parliament to contact the Department of Health in order to
