Kevin changed allegiance in Ghana after playing for Germany in youth
Nine years later, the Ghanaian international Kevin-Prince Boateng shed new light on his troubles after his tackle on Michael Ballack during an England Cup match between the former Portsmouth clubs and Chelsea.
The Boateng tackle has dismissed the captain of Die Mannschaft from the 2010 FIFA World Cup ™ in South Africa.
A month before the world show and with the birth of German Boateng, who had just changed international allegiance to his father's country, he was strongly criticized by the public and the German media for his "deliberate and malicious challenge" .
It is interesting to note that the Black Stars would have had to face Germany at the World Cup, having attracted Germany alongside Australia and Serbia in Group D. That has carried the scenario to another level.
"That question [about what such an incident does to you] is easy to answer: it destroys you, "Boateng, currently in the Barcelona books, told Goal.
"But I am a fighter, I have always remembered that I am a boy from Wedding (a district of Berlin) and that nothing can pull me down.
"But I must say that I've been really bad for a while, but the moment comes when it's better again.
"I tried to move on and forget about it."
Boateng was born to a German mother, he represented Europeans at different levels of youth before promising his future to the Black Stars.
At the World Cup, Kevin-Prince and his younger brother Jerome were opposed. They broke a record to reach a new level when they clashed again at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Germany won the first match 1-0 against South Africa, while the second day ended in a 2-2 draw in Brazil.
