EastEnders is working closely with the Samaritans organization on a new storyline that will explore Sean Slater's mental health.
Sean (Robert Kazinsky) last seen in the night (April 26) by Amy Mitchell without permission, leading up to a tense confrontation with Amy's dad Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) in Monday's (April 29) episode.
After finding out that his ex-wife Roxy Mitchell died tragically two years ago, it becomes apparent that Sean has been contemplating ending his own life. This is a secret that will come out later in the week.

EastEnders Writers and the BBC's Head of Continuing Drama Kate Oates have partnered with Samaritans, the charity.
"The return of Sean Slater gives us a unique opportunity to explore two different aspects of mental health: one of the long-term results of a long-term and untreated depression; to understand the balance of their own mental health – and is coming out winning, "Oates said today (April 29).
"The story is beautifully and intelligently played by Robert Kazinsky and Gillian Wright, both of whom are deeply concerned about getting right, prompting discussion, and making a difference."
Lorna Fraser of Samaritans' Media Advice Service added that the topic of suicide with appropriate sensitivity.
"Sean's story particularly highlights the importance of talking about our feelings, when we're struggling to cope," she said. "If you're worried about it, you may be struggling. It's alright to ask them if they're okay.
"For some it can be a huge relief to know that someone's spotted they may be going through a difficult time and they're there to listen."

Last week, Kazinsky said he was hopeful this storyline would have to deal with "unanswered questions" viewers might have about Sean since there's no guarantee he'll be able to return EastEnders.
"When Sean left, there were a lot of questions unanswered and this time I said to Kate: 'If I never come back and I never pick up Sean again, let's leave no questions unanswered.
EastEnders continue on Tuesday (April 30) at 7.30pm on BBC One.
