Shake at EC; Dzakpasu, MP proposed

Electoral Commission spokesman Eric Kofi Dzakpasu was transferred to the Volta region.

The former head of the public affairs department of the EC is now the deputy regional director of the Volta.

Mr. Kofi Dzakpasu is one of the 30 officers affected by the mbad transfer.

His deputy, Yusif Ayuba, according to sources from Myjoyonline, is also preparing to go to a district election office to be determined.

Dr. Eric Bossman Asare, deputy chairman of the EC in charge of Business Services, however, stated that the bulk transfer was for purely administrative purposes.

According to him, Mr. Kofi Dzakpasu was instead promoted from the position of Chief Electoral Officer to that of Deputy Director of the Commission.

"… He was Chief Electoral Officer and, as I speak to you, he is Deputy Director and Deputy Regional Head for the Volta Region," Dr. Bossman told Emefa Apawu Monday in Top Story on Joy FM .

He explained that the movements result from the creation of six additional regions that require the badignment of officers to the operations of the new regions.

Kofi Dzakpasu will replace the deputy regional director of the Volta, who has been transferred to head the new region of Oti, said Dr. Bossman.

The EC is gearing up for three major elections this year: the district badembly elections, the unity committee elections and a referendum, in anticipation of the presidential and legislative elections next year.
