She said, "This is a total lie, it has not been raised. I am sure nothing prevents the Commission from considering or creating new constituencies.

"This is an issue on our agenda but we have seen reports in the public domain and we can say with certainty that this is not coming from the Commission.

"The Commission has not met to consider this issue, although it is an issue on its agenda and a Commission mandate, but these figures and the information provided are false and we ask the public not to take them into account, "she added. .

The first chief bad in Parliament, Ibrahim Ahmed, accused President Akufo-Addo of influencing the electoral commission with a view to creating some 25 new constituencies in the run-up to the 2020 elections.

In an interview, the member for Banda "Before 2018, when the question of Charlotte Osei became a question of topicality, I made it clear that the faceless people who had asked her to leave would make requests.

The President has a program against the NDC and has asked the EC to create 25 new and additional constituencies to disadvantage others.

Mrs Mensa said that although the law obliges the Commission to create constituencies, the work needed to do so remains to be done. Therefore, she can not go ahead with such actions.

She insisted on the need for careful consideration of these actions, as some constituencies are numerous, others few.

"So these are things you have to take into account, but nothing presses. It's a commission mandate, so it's always in the foreground, but to be honest, it's not even been discussed.

"It has nothing to do with the creation of new regions and so on. Right now, we are busy setting up offices and that is what is before us … So, although the creation of new constituencies is a commission mandate, it's not something that we occupies at this moment, "said the President of the European Commission.

The last time the EC created new constituencies was in 2012. This has increased from 200 to 230 seats in Parliament, bringing to 275 the number of seats in the Legislature.
