Atalanta advanced to last place in the Champions League in Italy thanks to goals from Marten de Roon and Mario Pasalic who offered them a 2-0 win over Udinese.

The visitors held out for 81 minutes until former Spurs midfielder Sandro cheated Andrea Masiello and the Dutchman De Roon, who spent a season in Middlesbrough, scored on the score.

Pasalic's deflected shot sealed the win five minutes from time.

Atalanta is fourth with 59 points, one ahead of Roma and four games to play.

The Bergamo club, which has never qualified for the Champions League, also faces competition from Turin and AC Milan (56 points) and Lazio (55) in a fascinating battle for the fourth place.

Udinese remains 17th, one place and four points ahead of the relegation zone.
