Archbishop Kwofie succeeds Archbishop Palmer-Buckle as Chancellor of CIBT

On Thursday, April 11, 2019, Archbishop Charles Palmer-Buckle, former Chancellor of the Catholic Institute of Commerce and Technology (CIBT), previously transferred his position as Chancellor of the Institute to the new Archbishop Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, M The Reverend John Bonaventure Kwofie at a short ceremony at the Institute of Adabraka, Accra.

At the ceremony, Archbishop Palmer-Buckle said that the ITTC was the initiative of the Catholic Bishops' Conference.

He paid tribute to the staff of the Institute and to the current chairman of the board, Professor Frederick Rodrigues.

He revealed that the Institute was establishing a campus in Mepe, Volta Region, to run programs in the health sciences, particularly nursing and medical badistance. He added that the community had provided land and that health equipment had been purchased for this purpose.

For his part, the new Chancellor, Bishop John Bonaventure Kwofie, revealed that he was happy to inherit the Institute. He promised to work closely with the former Chancellor, the Board of Directors and the Institute's leadership to advance the Institute.

Professor Sylvester Achio, President of the Institute, said that the CIBT, which is a university college, will play a role that will help advance the Archbishop's vision of education.

The Institute, located in Adabraka, behind the Ministry of Information and adjacent to the offices of the National Association of Teachers of Ghana (GNAT), organizes degree programs in Business Administration with marketing options, banking and finance, accounting, human resources management and public administration, information technology, purchasing and supply chain management, religious studies and church administration.

The Institute is affiliated with the University of Ghana and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
