Ruud Gullit hammered Dele Alli while the Spurs still had a second mountain to climb.

Tottenham will travel to Ajax next week to improve his performances – and Gullit praised his compatriots.

But he was not so nice with the players in the Premier League after a night to forget in the club's biggest game for many years.

He did not play with Englishman Alli especially in the line of sight of the former manager of Chelsea.

The goal of Donny Van De Beek in the first half means that the Spurs have to score in Amsterdam to have any luck.

Gullit says that they must be much better in the future if they want to stay in the Champions League.

The Spurs midfielder had a low night

On beIN Sports, he said: "Ajax was under pressure, but even under pressure, he could defend himself and they did not let slip.

"But for me, a lot of players have been disappointing because I see them every week in the Premier League.

"Dele Alli, oh my god, technically so bad. (Victor) Wanyama, my god, technically, (Danny) Rose too.

"As I said, I see them every week and how is it possible to make so many mistakes.

"I know you're under pressure but you have to know what to do and they did not do it."

Spurs Mauricio Pochettino admit that his team was too slow to move forward and had to start better in the second leg.

Gullit said his technique was "so bad"

Alli and Tottenham will have better play in the second leg to have a chance

"In the first half, we did not start well," he said. "Ajax showed more energy, it was difficult for us to play, it was our lack of energy.

"After conceding the goal, we started playing.

"In the second half, we pushed them and tried to create opportunities, and the game was balanced in the second half.

"We're alive, he's only 1-0 less, we have to believe we can go and win the game."
