Ghana and the United Kingdom (United Kingdom) have signed a strategic partnership agreement to deepen and strengthen existing links and to open new areas of cooperation.

Both nations have agreed to focus their collective efforts in three main areas for mutual benefit.

Areas under study are building economic development and mutual prosperity by building on the work of the United Kingdom-Ghana Business Council, stability and regional security, and improving health, education and inclusion.

Jeremy Hunt, British Secretary for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, signed for his country, while Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, has signed for Ghana.

According to a report by Ghananewsagency.org, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of Ghana, and British High Commissioner to Ghana, Iain Walker, attended the signing ceremony in Accra at Jubilee House.

They agreed to deepen their economic relations by prioritizing efforts to promote sustainable industrialization, diversification of the economy, creation of jobs, as well as trade and investment development. .

With regard to stability and regional security, both countries acknowledged the evolving threat to stability and security in the region and agreed to collaborate closely in this regard.

With regard to health, education and inclusion, they agreed to share and develop technical expertise and foster new partnerships between UK and Ghanaian institutions to support high quality services financed by the country in health, education and social protection.
