The application process for Fantastic race is pretty well presented, but you may not know what happens when you are chosen as a semifinalist. Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge won the 21st season of Amazing race, and they recently talked Men's health how they stayed fresh while traveling the world (this involved sharing the deodorant), as well as the process of hearing and interviewing.
The couple has already played in their own show, The fabulous Beekman Boys, and they were encouraged to apply Amazing race by a friend of a CBS officer. After their contact with the executive, things started going fast.
"Literally, two days later, they called and said:" We heard that you wanted to run the race, do you want to participate in the interview process? " And we followed the entire process of interview and selection, which is actually very rigorous. And that's how we got into the series, "explained Brent.
The pair then flew to Los Angeles, and the process involved being "sequestered in a hotel room" so as not to touch other potential teams. Here is how they described the experience:
"There are about four or five interviews you need to go to Los Angeles, they interview different teams to find out about your personal life, but also look to see other teams that they interview." and how your personalities will interact with these personalities.It is something that people probably do not realize, you literally meet all the other teams on the starting line.
"So when you go out for this series of interviews (and I think there were three different series for which we had to go to Los Angeles), they would lock you up in a hotel room, and you are allowed to leave the hotel room only at certain times, and you are always escorted by a member of the hotel staff. Amazing racebecause they do not want you to have any interaction with other teams against which you could possibly run.
"And it 's interesting because we would be in our hotel and would look at the pool and you would see it as a couple and you would be wondering" Oh I wonder if it' s one of them. between them "or if you would be having dinner having your meal and you would be wondering" I'm wondering if it's one of them. "So that creates a bit of suspense, but even at the last interview, at the last step, you have to go through all these types of psychological tests and personality tests. "
And if you have already applied for the show but have not been chosen, the couple recommends you continue.
"So many people came to see us and said," Oh, my husband and I have always wanted to be part of the race. "Just audition and continue to audition."
