A new report indicates that more young people, especially girls, are trying to commit suicide by poisoning.

The study reveals that the rate of suicide attempts by poisoning among girls aged 10 to 12 years increased by 338% from 2011 to 2018.

For the same period, figures jumped 136% for girls aged 13 to 15.

Researchers do not know why poisoning has become a suicide method.

One of the reasons, they say, could be the availability of drugs and harmful substances at home.
