Hbadan Ayariga, founder and leader of the Popular People's Congress
The founder of the Congress of Popular People (APC) described the current state of the country as "beyond hope".
He said the new Patriotic Party (NPP) government led by Akufo-Addo had failed Ghanaians.
"I think that until now, they [NPP government] have failed Ghanaians, "said Johnnie Hughes at TV3 New Day on Thursday.
According to him, President Akufo-Addo has worked better as a presidential candidate in 2016 than as the country's president of Ghana. This, he believed, was what gave hope to Ghanaians within the NPP.
Mr Ayariga lamented that Ghana has deteriorated under the leadership of Akufo-Addo.
"What do we find? Corruption, vandalism of government property, government-appointed abuses of power, kidnappings and killings, attacks on members of political parties, and worse yet, we found ourselves in the history of culture of silence, "he lamented, adding that the governments were Ghanaians
He added: "Governments have always lied and when they have power, they continue to deceive people into believing that when it's time to do politics, they'll come back to clean up the mess."
He stressed that it was high time for technocrats and citizens to judge the activities of politicians in light of their promises.
"We have come to a point where the NPP and the NDC are playing the Ghanaians as a football team," he said.
The former APC flag bearer urged Ghanaians to make a radical "change" from the traditional "NPP – NDC", asking them to look for "people with different minds".
Ayariga also criticized the media, accusing them of promoting the NDC and the NPP at the expense of other political parties.
"It's not that the minority can not hoard the voices. There is talk of the media not giving other political parties the opportunity to sell themselves, "he said.
