The Bank of Ghana (BoG) threatens to sanction some 38 foreign exchange bureaus operating across the country for various regulatory offenses.

In a strong April 29 address to the Ghana Forex Association's Bureau, the Central Bank said it "noted with great concern the number of violations of the regulations and the Bank's failure to comply with the Bank's guidelines". .

Violations reported by the BoG include non-submission of monthly prudential reports, non-renewal of the operating license, non-submission of annual audited accounts, unsatisfied site reports as well as those that no longer work. for over two years.

The letter signed by Bernard Ato Otabil, head of BoG's "Supervision Department for Other Financial Institutions", gave May 15 as the deadline for the concerned bureaux de change operators to immediately take the necessary measures to meet all the requirements. regulations.
