March 17, 2015 – Pick n Pay and Landrover withdraw the Afrikaans sponsorship, that is Groot.
March 3, 2019 – Then, in 2019, when Groot adds Steve to the Afrikaans group, Groot is once again in the headlines. Channel24 has contacted as many sponsors as possible for feedback.
March 15, 2019 – MTN announced that it would end its ties with Afrikaans is Groot (AIG) due to Steve Hofmeyr's participation in the show.
March 26, 2019 – Toyota also withdraws its sponsorship.

UPDATE, MARCH 26, 9:40 PM: Media24 follows Toyota as well as its partnership with Afrikaans and Groot Cape Town – With its main sponsors cutting ties and revamping its links with Afrikaans, Groot, the local music concert must turn to his public members for financial support.
March 26, 2019 – A few hours after Toyota, Media24 also withdraws sponsorship from Afrikaans, that is Groot.
March 26, 2019 – The union Solidarity intervenes then for the event to take place.

UPDATE, MARCH 26, 9:40 PM: UPDATE, MARCH 26, 4:00 PM: Toyota is out and MTN continues to trade, Afrikaans is Groot asking for help from its fans. Media24 follows Toyota, which is also ending its partnership with Afrikaans: Groot Cape Town – The recently released local music concert Afrikaans is Groot (AIG) announced that Steve Hofmeyr was the main actor, despite his many controversial racial remarks, announced the appointment of a main sponsor for his performances in 2019.

Suzaan Keyter, spokesperson for kykNET, told Channel24, however: "During Shihaam Domingo's speech about the hip-hop category, two men stood up and tried to disrupt the speakerphone. Security immediately had no accreditation or tickets for the evening and they were asked to leave and escorted out of the room.
April 30, 2019 – Multichoice announced, in a statement to Channel24, that it would no longer broadcast content including Steve Hofmeyr on his platform.
May 2, 2019 – Steve Hofmeyr canceled his DStv account, flew over his decoder and threw his satellite dish off the roof of his house. The singer also offered 10,000 euros to a supporter who did the same.
