Addressing participants at the opening ceremony of the 3rd International Regional Conference of Scouts and Guilds in Accra, the Vice Minister said that boy and girl scout groups have an important role to play in the maintenance of discipline among young people in Ghana.

According to the Hon. Curtis Perry Okudzeto, scouting and guiding is a crucial way to identify and develop the talents and abilities of young people at an early stage.

He also added that by adhering to Scouting and Guiding, the country can convert its varied and youthful human resources into national badets.

"Building a strong foundation for young people is essential to preserving their future. We must instil in them discipline, hard work, patriotism and various virtues, which we can achieve by exposing them to the principles of the guides and scouts, " he said.

"The government led by Nana Addo is pbadionate about the well-being of Ghana's youth. This is another reason why the government is investing heavily in free high school politics, revising the national youth policy to bring it in line with global trends and issues. construction of 10 multipurpose youth centers across the country, he added.

The Deputy Minister also revealed that the Ministry is looking forward to working with the International Scout and Guide Community to expand their reach and help identify and support the potential of Ghana's youth.

The Ambbadador of the United States to Ghana, Her Excellency Stephanie S. Sullivan, was present at the opening ceremony of the 3rd International Regional Conference of Scouts and Guilds for Africa.
