Liverpool eagle-eyed fans believe the Argentinian superstar hit Fabinho in the lead in Wednesday's first round clash

A petition to ban Lionel Messi for the so-called "punch" Fabinho in Liverpool's Liverpool 3-0 defeat in the Champions League has pbaded the 5,000 mark.

Argentina illuminated the first leg of Wednesday's semifinal with a splint and a magic free kick to let the Reds look for a miracle at Anfield next week.

But some fans have disputed the attribution of the set, saying that it was Messi who had committed the fault.

Fabinho was judged to have blocked Messi's race as the Barcelona star tried to play Luis Suarez twice.

The Liverpool midfielder was booked to make his way to Messi, but some supporters argued that instead, the Argentinian had started at Fabinho.

While Messi apparently tries to meet the challenge, his hand seems to come into contact with Fabinho's face, who has fallen while holding his head.

And a Liverpool supporter felt so distressed by the decision he made to change.org to create a petition titled: "Make Messi a retrospective ban for clearly beating Fabinho in the head".

It reads as follows: "Messi is therefore entitled to a free kick for striking and scoring the booty of Fabinho, I think this must be examined by UEFA."

We are not sure that change.org is the best way to reach UEFA. However, the petition could attract the attention of the British government if it reaches 10,000 signatures.

Friday, at 15 hours, it already has more than 5,000 signatures, a total that increases rapidly every minute.

And after a brief scroll on Twitter, it is clear to see why.

It seems that many fans of Liverpool have been deceived by the little Argentinian:

Super cool that Fabinho receives a yellow for letting Messi punch him in the lead and the free kick that follows gives rise to a goal. Very cool. pic.twitter.com/HIPOdWt4Ya

Messi literally hit Fabinho and no VAR was used. Most protected player in the history of football.

I love the way everyone is pacing Liverpool without mentioning the fact that VAR remained silent against Mane's penalty and that Messi hit Fabinho I but got a free kick.

Messi has hit Fabinho, but nobody will talk about it because he is the greatest player in the world.
