The Accra Regional Police Command has opened an investigation into a robber syndicate involving two security guards.

On Thursday, the command arrested a policeman and an officer and their civilian accomplice in Weija related to a robbery.

According to the police, the three persons at the time of their arrest were on remand for similar crimes.

Speaking in front of Citi News, Accra Acting Commander of the Accra Region, DCOP Kweku Boadu Pepra, said an investigation had revealed that the two men were on trial for a similar offense.

"Preliminary investigations indicate that the police officer and the soldier are both in court for a similar charge. They are not on active duty and are currently the subject of a quasi-judicial investigation in their various institutions. "

"We will investigate the case. They are on bail. They appeared in court, which released them on bail for the same robbery case. "

At the same time, the police administration announced that it was taking steps to minimize the growing number of police involved in robbery cases.

Sending to Citi News, the director general of the Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, ACP David Eklu, urged the public to report such incidents immediately.

Three men were arrested in Weija for taking part in flights to Accra.

The suspects, who were recovered Thursday around 11:30, included a soldier, a police officer and a civilian.

The civilian was identified as Private Krosby Ofory Danso; Corporal Bernard Tsagli and the police officer; Lance Corporal Asamoah.

The police noted that the soldier and police officer are not on active duty and are currently on bail "facing similar charges" for another robbery.

Security personnel also face "quasi-judicial investigations in their various institutions," said Acting Commander of the Accra Region, DCOP Kweku Boadu Pepra.

Kojo Agyeman, of Citi News, told Accra's regional police that "the police describe them as criminals who have been operating a thieves' union for several years."
