Former President Jerry John Rawlings launched a fundraising campaign to allow a retired police officer to be operated on.
The retired officer, Chief Superintendent Ben Mensah, needed money for a knee replacement operation.

Former President Rawlings made this revelation when a delegation from the Ablekuma South constituency led by MP Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije presented an undisclosed amount to the Rawlings Foundation.
This donation was intended to help disadvantaged people in need of help with health, education or other needs.
In his speech on Tuesday, Okoe Vanderpuije said that he and some of his constituents had acknowledged the difficulties the former President had encountered in supporting many vulnerable people who regularly solicited his badistance and decided to join forces. to support the work of the foundation.
Former President Rawlings, who received the contribution, thanked the delegation for its kind gesture and indicated that he would direct the contribution to badist the retired police officer, Chief Superintendent Ben Mensah , to allow him to replace his patella.
The former president said that Superintendent Mensah, among others, had devoted most of his professional life to the good of the country and had faced precarious situations during the revolutionary period.
Noting that the cost of surgery is estimated at more than 65,000 ¢, Rawlings called on other well-meaning personalities and institutions to contribute to these causes.
