The project, supported by funds from the National Lottery Authority (NLA) for the amount of 15 million GHc, would notably strengthen the sporting qualities of the units located in the six garrisons and promote a good esprit de corps between the units their mandate to ensure peace and security in the north and the country as a whole.

It would not be used solely by the army, but by the whole of Tamale and its environs to strengthen and deepen relations between civilians and civilians.

Bawumia said the project was keeping the promise made by President Akufo-Addo at the graduation ceremonies of some officers of the Ghana Military Academy in Teshe last October, aimed at supporting the country's military. 39; army.

He said the project, the first to be launched in the country, was in line with the government's strategies to transform the armed forces into a world-clbad security institution with modern infrastructure, including housing, health and training.

He added that the government had executed a number of projects such as the first phase of the Barracks Regeneration Project, which is about 90 percent completed, as well as the Defense Health Initiative including a 500-strong military hospital. beds in the Ashanti region, completed to 70%, among others.

Bawumia said the government is committed to developing the city of Tamale into a major tourist and commercial area. In June of this year, the government would return to Tamale to reduce costs for the construction of a first clbad airport terminal at Tamale Airport.
