A Nigerian scientist based in the UK, Ernest Ezeajughi, entered the story on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, when he was sworn in as the first black mayor of London's Brent District.
Ernest Ezeajughi was declared the first black mayor of Brough, London Borough, UK, following his election by the College of Municipal Councilors in Brent on April 16, 2019.
He was then inducted into an inaugural ceremony organized by the Brent Council Annual Meeting and the Mayor, held at the Brent Civic Center on May 1st.
This milestone event was greeted by councilors from across the Borough, representatives of Brent volunteer and community organizations, as well as several distinguished personalities.

Inspired by his late father and former South African President Nelson Mandela, Ezeajughi began his political career as a member of one of the founding fathers of the British chapter of a major Nigerian political party, the All Progressives. Grand Alliance (APGA), before becoming president 2010-2012.
He then joined British politics and quickly became a strong member of the Labor Party.
Prior to his mayoral election, the father of four won the election for a councilor post representing the Stonebridge district on Brent's board in 2014.
He was re-elected in 2018 and performed incredibly well in a white-dominated political environment.
In less than a year, Ezeajughi was elected Deputy Mayor of Brent and was, until recently, Acting Mayor of Brent.
The Nigerian, originally from Anambra State, said he would work to unify various communities and support charitable action in London and his homeland. ;origin.

"It's an incredible privilege and honor to be named Mayor of Brent and serve this great borough I've called home since 2004."
As Mayor, he will badist two charitable organizations during his tenure.
The first black mayor of London's Brent district stressed that "During my year as mayor, I hope to be able to work with all of Brent's rich and diverse communities. I look forward to raising funds for my two incredible local charities for the year, "said the new Mayor of Brent at its inauguration. & # 39;
Context
Born in the town of Awgbu, north of Orumba in Anambra State, Ezeajughi attended primary, secondary and tertiary education in Anambra and actively participated in the political life of student unions.
He attended Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, where he studied Applied Microbiology. After graduating in 1998, he worked briefly in the family business before moving to England to join his wife in 2004. He has since been living in Brent.
In England, he earned a Masters of Science degree at Kings College London and worked for several organizations, including the Royal Mail, Public Health England.
As a scientist, he is currently working for the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Authority (MHRA).
