The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has called on the government to equip district fire stations to improve their performance.
He said it was important to complete the program of the One District Government, a factory with well-equipped fire stations.
Mr. Edwin Ekow Blankson, Fire Chief of the GNFS, who made this call, said that industrial development was usually accompanied by fires and other hazards. The presence of fire departments in each district was therefore paramount for their operations.
Mr Blankson said this at an induction ceremony and religious service in Accra to officially swear him as the fire chief of the GNFS.
He added that since taking office, they had opened eight fire stations and asked the government to increase its support so that the remaining 55 districts in which they operated also have their own fire stations.
The event, whose theme was "Called to Serve," presented the Chief Financial Officer with four authority symbols.
The symbols included a ring that symbolizes authority and unbroken loyalty, a ceiling hook, a Bible that is a source of truth and wisdom, and a fire ax that allows it to access all premises to perform rescue operations.
Mr. Blankson expressed his gratitude to the President for this honor and badured him that he would never disappoint him.
He also thanked the Minister of the Interior and his deputy for their support of the service.
He stated that management had developed a five-year strategic plan to guide the service in realizing its vision of modernizing the GNFS into a world-clbad emergency and rescue service capable of providing an effective response in the event of an emergency. fire and fire protection to Ghanaians.
The CFO stated that in order to achieve these objectives, the human resource capacity of the Service would be strengthened.
It will also acquire modern equipment, improve the well-being of staff, improve professionalism and ensure an effective response to health and safety emergencies.
He stated that cadet officer plans were well advanced for taking a course on public safety, which would lead to the award of a prior professional certificate in public safety from the University of Toronto. Energy and natural resources.
Mr Blankson said that with the support of the Maltese ambbadador to Ghana, 40 officers would attend a course in Malta in May 2019 to build their capacity.
He added that GNFS management would continue to build the capacity of local and international staff to properly position the service to meet the modern challenges badociated with firefighting.
"In addition to external training opportunities, there is an urgent need for the service to enhance its ability to conduct quality on-the-job career development programs for all military members, in line with global standards.
We are therefore looking for a suitable private partner to help us build a modern fire college to serve Ghana and the entire sub-region, "he said.
As the GNFS continues to modernize its Fire Academy and Training School facilities, the government has allowed us to acquire two hydraulic platforms in the history of this service.

The CFO called on the officers to remain committed to the service 's mandate and to put their shoulders to the wheel to make GNFS a symbol of hope for Ghanaians in distress caught in emergency situations.
Rev. DOIII I.K Erzoah Amihere, GNFS Chaplain, congratulated the CFO and urged all officers to support him.
He instructed the officers to embrace the disinterestedness and commitment to serve and advance the GNFS.
