The object of a width of 340 meters will almost scratch our planet, dragging it to just under 33,000 kilometers from Earth. It's about a tenth of the Earth-Moon distance (384,000 kilometers). The asteroid Apophis with the code name 99942 was discovered in 2004 and, according to NASA researchers, will fly on April 13, 2029 near our planet.
However, there is no reason to worry, as scientists have ruled out that object sinks into the Earth. That's why the US agency, NASA staff, began to research what data could be recovered and how to perform these measurements.
The asteroid returns to our planet in 2036, but we can not yet say how close it will be to the Earth.
