MEGHAN and Prince Harry want to find a family home in California after the birth of their baby, can reveal the sun on Sunday.
Friends of the former Hollywood actress claim she's looking for a place near where she grew up in Los Angeles.
The Duchess of Susbad wants it as a bolthole for her new family – and for being close to her mother, Doria Ragland.
A source revealed: "Meghan definitely wants a place in Los Angeles – she loves the city, the lifestyle and the climate.
"In the end, she is a Californian girl and can breathe better there. Hollywood is in her DNA and I think that's where she always wanted to stay strong.
"Spending time there would also allow him some freedom and independence from the palace and the press – and increased control over his life and the people who surround him.
"She is a duchess in the UK, but could be a queen in Los Angeles."
Meghan, 37, and Harry, 34, moved from Kensington Palace to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, Berks, last month. They would have relaxed yesterday at Doria, 62, waiting for the birth of their baby – there is now a week late.
Previous reports had suggested that Meghan and Harry would move to southern Africa for some time after birth.
Doria would also have gone to live with the couple in the UK.
But now we think she's going to stay in LA, so the Duchess is eager to find a place nearby.
Our source added: "Meghan is very close to her mother and will want to be able to share quality time with her in her hometown.
"She also has friends in Los Angeles with babies and will want to have that interaction and bring up her child in a less restrictive environment – similar to the way she grew up."

It is unlikely that Meghan will move immediately after the birth of the baby royal, but when the family will settle better.
Another source said, "They are not looking to buy anywhere for the moment because they have just completed renovations to Frogmore Cottage.
"But they are really looking for a place in California."
