Vivimed Life Sciences recalls losartan potassium tablets after detection of an impurity

(Gray News) – Vivimed Life Sciences has issued a voluntary recall of its losartan potbadium tablets following detection of the N-nitroso-N-methyl-4-aminobutyric acid (NMBA) impurity.

It is used to treat high blood pressure. According to the Food and Drug Administration, the risk of developing cancer in some patients after long-term use of the contaminated product can not be ruled out.

Vivimed recalls 19 batches of its product, manufactured by Heritage Pharmaceuticals Inc. in East Brunswick, NJ. However, the batches were manufactured by Vivimed at its factory in Alathur, Chennai, India.
