"I was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease at 30 – now, my twins, 2 years old, could suffer as well."

A father with two children considered the youngest person with Alzheimer's disease in the UK said his grief to learn that his two-year-old twins could have the same cruel illness.

Daniel Bradbury, who is only 32 years old, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of the disease in September 2017.

Daniel, who lives in Hucknall, Notts, inherited the disease from his father Adrian, who died at the age of 36.

Jordan, Daniel's wife, said: "It's the longest and most cruel farewell." I watch the love of my life disappear literally before my eyes.

The couple discovered that he could have inherited a form of aggressive dementia when Jordan was three months pregnant with twins Jasper and Lola, now two years old.

Their worst nightmare was confirmed when they received Daniel's blood test results.

The disease is caused by a genetic mutation called PSEN1, which has been diagnosed in fewer than 600 people worldwide.

At the time, doctors suspected Adrian had vCJD, the human version of mad cow disease.

They only found out that he had dementia 25 years after Adrian's death, after badyzing a sample of his blood and brain, kept in an Edinburgh lab, after Daniel had begun to manifest the same symptoms.

Jordan and Daniel were married last year after planning their wedding in just a few months, so that Daniel could remember it as much as possible.

Addressing the Mirror at the time, Jordan said, "I was afraid that Dan would be really emotional and forget what he wanted to say in his wishes, but he spoke with his heart. He was so clear and calm that he did not hesitate once.

"He told me to remember what he felt for me and that he would feel it forever, even when the disease became infected and he could not show me. It was wonderful to hear those words.

"It was I who was very moved towards the end of my vows.

"I tried to hold my breath so I did not cry, but I finally sobbed the last words, I could not stop myself, luckily Dan understood me.

They even had a special guest, actress Vicky McClure of Nottingham, best known for her award-winning role in BAFTA in This Is England and for her Line of Duty cops show.

Daniel and the actress became friends while raising public awareness of the Alzheimer Society.

They also worked together on a new BBC documentary, My Dementia Choir, while Vicky's grandmother died of dementia. And they will complete the charity's Annual Memory Walk next month.

Daniel says, "Everything happened so fast, it was like a twilight zone, but it was the perfect day."
