Inspector General of Police, David Asante Appeatu
The Inspector General of Police will be taken to Parliament to answer questions about the three missing Takoradi girls, said minority leader Haruna Iddrisu.
He said he would table the motion when Parliament resumes plenary so that the IGP informs MPs of the measures taken by the police to help girls.
"The issue of abducted girls is a matter of national importance and the next time we come, we will file a petition to compel the Inspector General of Police, through the Ministry of the Interior, to report to this room measures taken these kids, "said the MP for Tamale South.
Cases of kidnappings in the country have been rising over the past two months.
Three teenage girls have been reported missing in Takoradi in the last 12 months and their whereabouts are unknown.
Ruth Quayson, Priscilla Blessing Bentum and Priscilla Koranchie were reportedly abducted between August 2018 and January 2019.
The police have so far managed to arrest the suspect, identified as the Nigerian national Samuel Wilson Udoterg, but has not been able to extract him much.
Earlier this month, the CID police chief at a press conference revealed that they had discovered where the girls were.
COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah said the police were putting in place measures to hand them over to their families.
However, since the press conference, nothing has been heard, as the parents of the abducted girls still seek answers from the police.
